PMU lips

PMU Lips, also known as lip micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, is an advanced treatment designed to enhance the natural colour, shape, and overall appearance of the lips. Using a digital machine with ultra-fine needles, pigment is carefully implanted into the upper dermis to create soft, even colour with a refined, natural finish.

This treatment can improve lip definition, correct uneven tone, and restore colour that may have faded over time, while maintaining a subtle, balanced look. Results typically last 12–24 months, gradually softening as the pigment fades, with top-up sessions recommended to maintain colour and clarity.

A consultation and patch test are required prior to treatment to ensure suitability, safety, and the best possible outcome. PMU lip treatments are fully customised, with techniques selected based on your natural lip tone, skin type, and desired result — from barely-there enhancement to more noticeable colour correction.

Lip Blush

£310

Lip Blush is designed to enhance the lips with a soft, natural tint. This treatment gently boosts the lips’ natural colour, creating a fresh, youthful appearance without harsh lines or heavy pigment.

A carefully selected blush tone is used to blend seamlessly with your natural lip colour, providing a subtle, everyday enhancement. Ideal for those who prefer a minimalist yet refined look.

Melanin-Rich Lips Neutralisation

£310

Some lips naturally contain higher levels of melanin, particularly eumelanin, which can create darker or uneven tones. When treating melanin-rich lips, these deeper shades must be carefully neutralised before a brighter, more even colour can be achieved.

This specialised technique is designed to balance and enhance the natural lip tone, creating improved depth, uniformity, and a more even finish. Clients with melanin-rich lips may require additional top-up sessions to achieve the desired result, as colour correction is a gradual process.

All new sets above include a touch-up session. For lip blush, this is after 6-8 weeks, and for melanin-rich lips, this is after 10-12 weeks.

Please note: If there is any previous permanent makeup on the treatment area, we may not be able to carry out this service; pre-approval will be required. Please contact us to discuss before booking.

Consultation

A thorough consultation to understand each client's needs and preferences, ensuring a customised treatment that delivers natural-looking results.

Treatment

We use high-quality, sterile equipment and follow strict safety guidelines to ensure a safe, comfortable experience. Treatments typically last 2-3 hours.

Top Up

A top-up session 6-8 weeks after the initial treatment for lip blush, or after 10-12 weeks for lip neuturalisation, is recommended to achieve the desired colour and shape, ensuring long-lasting, quality results.

Colour Booster

Over time, colour can fade due to factors such as sun exposure or skincare products. A colour booster can help refresh the look of the permanent makeup.

Frequently Asked Questions

PMU related questions

What is permanent makeup?

The permanent makeup (PMU) procedure is the process of implanting micro-deposits of pigment into the upper dermis layer of the skin. This is a form of cosmetic tattooing used for the purpose of permanent cosmetic makeup. A hand held tool known as a micro-blade, or a machine which uses small needles are used to penetrate the skin and create long lasting cosmetic makeup.

How long does it last?

This can vary per individual but on average PMU lips last between 1-2 years before needing a maintenance session.

What is the difference between lip blush and lip neutralisation?

Lip blush enhances the natural color and shape of your lips, giving them a soft, even tint and subtle definition. Lip neutralisation is a technique used to correct uneven or dark lip pigmentation, creating a more neutral base before applying lip blush (optional) or to balance natural lip color.

Which PMU treatment should I go for?

Lip blush: Ideal for clients with paler lips wanting a subtle tint.

Lip neutralisation: Recommended for darker toned lips to even out pigmentation before optional blush.

How long will the appointment take?

PMU lips treatment requires two appointments. The first appointment is where the full treatment is carried out, and the second is your required top up session which will take place 6-8 weeks later lip blush, and 10-12 weeks after lip neutralisation. The first appointment will last between 2-3 hours depending on the style selected. Your top up session may be slightly shorter as we work over the areas that have faded through the healing process and require more pigment. Melanin-rich neutralisation may require additional top up sessions for optimal results.

Can I get lip blush if I have fillers?

Yes, but it’s recommended to wait at least 3-4 weeks after filler injections to ensure proper healing and color retention.

Is it painful?

The PMU procedure should never be unbearable. Generally, our clients are comfortable throughout their appointment. You can expect to feel scratching, stinging or tenderness. Numbing cream is optional and can be applied.

Can I choose my colour?

Yes, your natural undertone will be taken into account for the best results. Shades can be customised to complement your skin tone and desired look.

Will I need more than two sessions for lip neutralisation?

Yes, sometimes darker or very uneven toned lips may require 3-4 additional sessions to achieve a fully neutral base. This allows the pigment to correct natural uneven tones gradually. Sessions are usually spaced 10-12 weeks apart for proper healing which can take longer in melanin-rich lips.

How will they look/feel immediately after treatment?

You may experience redness, swelling, irritation and tenderness immediately after treatment. These usually subside within a few days. Immediately after treatment and the next 1-2 days your lips will get darker. This is completely normal and is due to the excess pigment sitting on top of the skin. This will subside as the skin begins to repair itself.

What is the healing process like?

Initial healing is usually within 5-7 days where the lips may peel and feel dry. During this time it is important minimise the lips getting wet. An aftercare ointment must be constantly applied to the lips for at least 7 days, or longer, until the skin has healed and is free from any scabs/flaking. When the scabs come away, pigment will likely look faded which is completely normal. Full healing after lip blush procedure takes 4-6 weeks. Full healing after lip neutralisation procedure takes 10-12 weeks. The pigment resurfaces after these full healing time frames, this is where true healed results can be seen.
